[email protected] Introduction
My name is Immanuel Sheefeni and for over the past 8 years, I have been serving, on a voluntary basis, as an HIV/AIDS activist throu
ghout Namibia, whereby through my motivational speaking engagements via the Radio and TV as well as on Social Media, I have helped more than 30,000 individuals in Namibia to disclose their HIV/AIDS status for them to start getting medical and social assistance. I then realized that doing verbal activism alone does not really help many of the people who are physiologically affected and effected and victimized by being denied certain basic services such as employment, and their lack of food and the stigma that is intruded upon their daily living due to the fact that they have disclosed their HIV status. Therefore, during the whole year of 2019, I have been consulting with some of my expert friends, locally and overseas, and came up with a project idea, to set up an Aquaponics fish farm project, that I believe could help empower them and the entire community where I was born, Outapi, with sustainable employment opportunities and provide them and the community with food, while contributing to the economic development of our Outapi town and country. I have since put together a great team of professionals, specialized in project development and management, consulting engineers, financial modeling, and environmental engineers to develop an onshore Aquaponics project, known as "Immanuel Sheefeni Aquaponics" to be based in my private rural field located in Outapi, Omusati Region, Namibia. The Project
Immanuel Sheefeni Aquaponics is being developed to become one of Africa's largest Aquaponics, to start out with the production of over 39,000 tons per annum of freshwater Shrimps and over 100,000 tons per annum of Tilapia, as well as thousands of kilograms of mixture of vegetables for the local and SADC food markets. Aquaponics is the combination of aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (soil-less plants growing) that grows fish and plants together in one integrated system. It is a combination of cutting edge, high quality, efficient food technology and production, with the commitment to improve the taste naturally bred fish, shrimps and vegetables with excellent quality and nutritional value. Technical and Engineering
The project has appointed and signed with one of Namibia top and largest consulting engineering firms, Burmeister & Partners (Pty) Ltd, which is a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering company, responsible for providing the consulting, complete engineering and system design. Namibia based firm, SK Associates, is mandated for the project development, while Cascadia Consultancy is responsible for the project management and supervision for the successful engineering, procurement and construction to commissioning of the Immanuel Sheefeni Aquaponics. Financial Management
The Project has appointed and signed an Agreement with Namibia-based leading financial advisory firm, Simonis Storm Securities (Pty) Ltd., as the brokerage and financial advisor, while SNR Capital structuring the financing package for the successful financing of the Immanuel Sheefeni Aquaponics Project,
Employment Opportunities
Once in full production, the Immanuel Sheefeni Aquaponics is poised to create more than 3,000 direct and indirect job opportunities in Outapi, especially for those who are affected and or infected with and by HIV/AIDS, while contributing to the production of food in Namibia. Markets
Aquaponics is a new and innovative idea, although has been around for centuries. It is resurfacing in our modern world and attracting many people. In 2012, Industry ARC reported, "Aquaponics as an industry has a potential market size of around USD $180 million in 2013 and this is expected to cross USD $1 billion in sales by 2020." Customers
For the purposes of this project, we are focusing on specific customers in Namibia and neighboring countries. Our potential customers include government institutions such as hospitals, prisons, schools and universities, wholesales, private retail stores and street vendors.
