🥒 Storage & Handling Tips for Cucumbers 🌿
Cucumbers are delicate and can lose their crispness quickly if they're not stored correctly. A little extra care can help maintain their freshness and reduce waste.
✔️ Keep them cool – Store cucumbers in a cool environment, ideally around 10–13°C. Avoid temperatures that are too cold, as cucumbers can suffer from chilling damage.
✔️ Keep them dry – Excess moisture can encourage mould and spoilage, so avoid washing them until they're ready to be used.
✔️ Handle with care – Cucumbers bruise easily. Avoid dropping, squeezing, or placing heavy produce on top of them.
✔️ Allow airflow – Store in a well-ventilated area and avoid tightly packed containers that trap moisture.
✔️ Keep away from ethylene producers – Store cucumbers away from produce such as apples, bananas, and tomatoes, which can speed up deterioration.
✔️ Rotate your stock – Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) and use older stock first to keep your supply fresh.
🌱 Good handling means better quality, less waste, and fresher produce for your customers.
