๐งบHANDLING & STORAGE TIPS
๐ฅStore unripe avos at room temperature allow natural ripening. Avoid refrigeration at this stage โ it slows the process
๐ฅRefrigerate once ripe (slightly soft to the touch).
This can extend shelf life by 2โ3 days
๐ฅHandle with care. Avocados bruise easily, even if you canโt see it immediately. Avoid dropping, squeezing, or stacking too heavily. Bruised fruit will turn brown faster internally
๐ฅAllow airflow
Store in crates or ventilated boxes, not sealed plastic. Proper airflow helps prevent moisture build-up and spoilage
๐ฅManage ripening with ethylene
Avocados naturally release ethylene gas, which speeds up ripening. To slow ripening, store them away from fruits like bananas, apples, and tomatoes. To speed up ripening, place them together in the same space
๐ฅPractice FIFO (First In, First Out)
Rotate stock daily. Use older, riper avos first. Separate by ripeness stage (hard, semi-ripe, ripe)
๐ฅStoring cut avocados
Keep in an airtight container. Add a little lemon juice to slow browning. Refrigerate and use within 1โ2 days
๐ก Pro Tip
Sorting avocados by ripeness stage helps you sell faster, reduce waste, and manage stock better.
