A steep roof lets light in at a better angle, less bounces off, more reaches your plants.

A wide, flat structure spreads light more evenly, but overall intensity drops.

And which direction the ridge faces? That controls whether plants get balanced light all day or a morning-heavy profile.

𝐒𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟑: 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬.

Most soils in southern Nigeria are acidic. Heavy rainfall leaches out the minerals that keep pH balanced. Without testing and adjusting, many farmers are planting into soil that's working against them.

The fix: Agricultural lime. Dolomite. Careful application based on a soil test result. Not guesswork.

SoilSchool Part 2: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐇 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝟔.𝟓 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰.

pH runs from 0 to 14. Neutral is 7. Most vegetables want to live between 6.0 and 6.8.

Below 6.0 — metals become toxic to roots.
Above 7.5 — iron and zinc lock up and disappear.

That small green zone? That's where your fertiliser actually works. That's where your plant can eat everything you give it.
