On December 5, 2024, the Commercial Dairy Ranchers Association of Nigeria (CODARAN) team was present in Minna, Niger State, to launch the first tranche of the Milk Aggregation and Logistics Development Project (MALDEP). A similar event followed on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in Kano and Jigawa State, as the initial phase of this project is set to pilot in both states.
The event featured goodwill messages from Amman Universal Nigeria Limited and BOP Inc., a brief summary of the project by CODARAN’s National Secretary, Engr. Daniyan Abimbola, and the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between CODARAN and L&Z Integrated Farms Limited at their farm in Kano. Following the signing ceremony, the team proceeded to Jigawa State to inspect the Milk Collection Centre in Riniyal Community, Ringin LGA.
The launch was a grand occasion with a significant turnout of community members, who enthusiastically welcomed the CODARAN team and expressed excitement about this empowerment initiative. The Local Government Chairman, represented by Alhaji Murutal Abubakar, a former chairman, conveyed his full support and commitment to ensuring the success of MALDEP in the community.
In a press interview, the Executive Director of CODARAN, Mr. Dianabasi Akpainyang, highlighted the project’s potential to increase Nigeria’s milk production and improve the livelihoods of smallholder dairy farmers in the region.
