💎The Blessing I Knelt For — And the Journey That Followed!
Over 20 years ago, I made a decision that would shape my entire life.
My uncle sat me down and asked:
“How sure are you about this decision?”
It was just seven days after we buried my father.
I was young. Grieving. But certain.
I looked him in the eye and said,
“I’m sure. This is what I want to do with my life.”
He warned me.
“The road will be tough. Your age mates may seem ahead of you. You will want to quit many times. Only passion and determination will keep you grounded.”
Then he added:
“The good news? After you’ve paid your dues, what others earn in years, you may earn in months. But true wealth takes time, knowledge, and consistency.”
I knelt for his blessing that day.
And life began to test every word he spoke not intentionally but because of a reality I chose to live.
The journey was harder than I imagined.
There were nights I questioned everything.
Times I nearly walked away.
Moments I picked up my certificates and considered employment.
But I kept returning to the dream.
In 2015, during one stretching season, the wife of Former Senator Sodangi told me:
“Gladys, don’t ever stop knocking on doors that are resisting you now — because they will eventually open.”
That sentence became fuel.
I was also privileged to receive encouragement from Dame Pauline Tallen, who kept pushing my entrepreneurial drive and strengthened my access to critical social capital.
Then came a defining moment.
Through Dr. Chidimma Nwajumogu, who deeply believed in the value I was creating and did not hesitate to push me forward, I received patronage from Dame Patience Jonathan.
That patronage led to my very first million-naira deal😊.
I cannot describe what that moment meant.
It wasn’t just about the money.
It was validation.
It was proof.
It was the reward of staying consistent when quitting felt easier.
But visibility did not eliminate the grind.
I still traveled to remote places to build supply chains.
I still took on unexpected side gigs — even supplying stone and laterite from quarries for construction companies— just to keep operations running.
I still had to evolve as consumer demands evolved.
I learned something powerful:
Money can be lost.
Opportunities can close.
But if you understand value creation and remain committed to growth, you can always rebuild.
Entrepreneurship is not for the faint-hearted.
Not for the loudest.
Not for the most connected.
It is for the one who keeps learning.
Keeps adapting.
Keeps knocking.
Because eventually — the doors open.
And when they do, you must be ready.
I’m still building.
Still learning.
Still knocking, the growth continues😊
