A woman wakes up one morning and goes outside her house and what she saw horrified her.
Her dog was carrying her neighbor’s rabbit in its mouth.
The rabbit is dead and dirty with mud.
She is understandably furious and confused and runs to call her husband and children. They recognized the dead rabbit as truly their neighbor’s rabbit. But they’re not in good terms with their neighbors because their dog was constantly going to their neighbor’s yard to harass the rabbit and the neighbor had complained several times about them putting their dog on a leash.
It looked really bad.
The husband took the rabbit, washed it, brushed it, waited for the neighbors to drive out then he snuck into their compound and carefully placed it back into the cage. Then he chained his dog.
That evening, the entire family heard a loud scream from their neighbor’s backyard and ran to check it out. They found their neighbors terrified of the dead clean rabbit in the cage.
The husband feigned ignorance and asked what was going on and the neighbors revealed that the rabbit died of illness the previous day and was buried in the backyard and they are shocked to see it back in it’s cage.
The neighbors pointed to a small spot in the sand which had been dug up as where they buried the rabbit.
The entire family was speechless. Their neighbors were also speechless.
To the neighbors, it remains a mystery that has never been solved.
To the family, they learned a lesson - the truth is not always bitter
