HOW BEST TO SELL YOUR FISHES.
Do you know you can sell your fishes and make good profit to the right customers?
Take your time and read through.
When you decide when to sell your fishes, make sure you are selling to the right customers.
50% of table size buyers are middle men. They buy fishes weighing 1kg and above for as low as #2,300 per kg and resell at #3000- #3,500 per kg.
That's a huge profit to them and also a good business. If you sell your fishes to them, you will end up making little or no profit at all.
Some buy for as low as #2,400 per kg for fishes weighing 1kg and above, smoke it and sell at a higher price. That's a huge profit and good business as well.
Now the question is, as a fish farmer, what is your own strategy in selling your fishes to the right customers who will buy #3000- #3,500 for fishes weighing 1kg and above?
Between you and the middle men, who is actually doing good business? How do you break away from middle men and deal with direct customers?
You know how many bags of feed you have invested, purchase of fingerlings/juveniles, Transport to your farm and paying your workers.
This is the secret.
You see those doing barbeque business, they should be your target customers. You see those doing fish pepper soup in restaurants and hotels, they should be your direct customers.
They have their big joints where they sell. Not just one person selling. Go to their spots where they are. Carry your product( Fish) as sample, videos or pictures of your fishes. Show them.
Sell your fishes not only within your area. People go as far as different states to buy fishes.Use social media to market your fishes. Your farm should have a page on social media.
If you decide not to sell your fishes fresh, then smoke your fishes by yourself and sell.
Your buyers might not even be within your area. They can come from outside of your state of residence.
Smoke your fishes well and let it look very attractive. Do you know how many tonnes of smoked catfishes that come from the north, west, into different markets in the east and south?
Do you also know how many smoked fishes that move from the east, south into different markets in the north and west?
Do you know how many smoked Catfishes that leave this country every day to African and European countries every day?
Your customers are everywhere.
Catfish business is like an oil business if you know what you are doing.
You also have to be patient, full of passion and consistent.
Build your business from the scratct. Most people won't tell you where they sell their fishes and who their customers are.
Wake up and sell your catfishes yourself. Customers are looking for you. Position yourself and do your business yourself.
Fish farming is still profitable.
