I ALMOST LOST A CUSTOMER OVER 2.5 LITRES OF PALM OIL 😭

But what happened next reminded me why integrity matters more than profit.

A loyal customer bought 2.5 litres of palm oil from our store.

The next day, I used the same oil at home and noticed something was different.

It wasn't adulterated.

It tasted good.

But it had a peculiar smell that our usual palm oil doesn't have.

I immediately called my supplier.

I discovered that her daughter had mistakenly brought the wrong keg to my store.

My supplier didn't argue.

She simply said:

"Bring it. I'll replace it."

And she did.

That was a relief because I had already started thinking:

"What if this customer thinks Glowreal Fishes is selling bad products?"

I called the customer myself.

She confirmed that she had noticed the same thing.

I told her to come for another 2.5 litres.

When she eventually came about a week later, there was a misunderstanding over the replacement.

Things got heated.

She was angry.

I was angry too.

But I refused to lose my composure.

I eventually filled her 2.5 litre keg.

Peace restored.

Was I happy?

Not really.

But I knew I had protected something bigger than the cost of the oil:

THE NAME OF MY BUSINESS.

Then...

Guess who came back again?

Her. 😂

For her usual catfish!

She even told me the new palm oil was good.

And I smiled.

Because sometimes, a difficult customer experience doesn't have to become the end of a customer relationship.

My lesson?

Trust your suppliers, but verify.

Once a product carries your business name, the customer doesn't care who produced it.

Your reputation is attached to it.

At Glowreal Fishes, we may not be perfect, but we will always strive to protect the trust you place in us.

A good name is better than riches. ❤️
