“Madam, I Saw It Cheaper Somewhere Else.”
Last week, a woman walked into a clothing store in New Haven to buy a handbag.
The seller showed her a beautiful black bag.
“Madam, this one is ₦18,000.”
She examined the bag, opened the zip, checked the inside, and nodded. She liked it, but before paying, she brought out her phone.
“But I saw this same bag on Instagram for ₦13,500.”
The seller smiled and replied:
“Then buy it from Instagram, na.”
They both laughed, but the woman was serious.
The Instagram vendor was based in Abakpa, and the price difference was ₦4,500.
That’s not little money.
But there was a problem.
She didn’t want to travel from New Haven to Abakpa just to pick up one handbag.
She was also worried about paying an online vendor and receiving something that looked different from the pictures.
So, she stood there doing the calculations.
Should she pay ₦18,000 and take the bag home immediately? Or should she save ₦4,500, confirm that the Instagram vendor was genuine, and arrange delivery from Abakpa?
She even began comparing the photos on her phone with the bag in front of her.
“Are you sure it’s the same quality?” the seller asked.
And honestly, that was a fair question.
This Is Where Shopping in Enugu Gets Interesting
Sometimes, you find exactly what you want at a better price, but the seller is on the other side of town.
Other times, you see a lovely item online, but you’re not sure whether what will arrive is what you saw in the picture.
Let’s be honest: not every Instagram vendor is trustworthy. Some customers have ordered one item and received something completely different.
Before paying, confirm that the vendor is genuine. Ask for recent pictures or videos of the actual item, check customer reviews, and make sure you understand the size, colour, quality, and return policy.
Once you trust the vendor and have agreed on the purchase, getting the item shouldn’t become another problem.
The vendor can prepare your order, and Benji Express can pick it up and deliver it to you.
You don’t have to travel across Enugu every time you find a good deal.
Sometimes, even after adding the delivery fee, you may still spend less. In other cases, buying from the nearby shop might make more sense especially if you want to inspect the item yourself and take it home immediately.
The important thing is to compare your options before spending your money.
Ndi Enugu, let’s settle this:
If a bag costs ₦18,000 in New Heaven but ₦13,500 in Abakpa, would you pay the extra ₦4,500 and take it home immediately, or buy from Abakpa and arrange delivery?
Let’s hear your reasons.
