π βMY HUSBAND SENT MONEY TO HIS MOTHER, BUT WHEN MY OWN MOTHER NEEDED HELP, HE REFUSEDβ¦β
Good evening, ma. Please, I need advice because I am beginning to regret some decisions I made in my marriage. π
I have been married for four years, and we have two children.
When I married my husband, I knew he loved his family, and I respected that. I never had a problem with him helping his mother because I believed that a good son should take care of his parents.
But recently, something happened that made me look at my marriage differently.
Last month, his mother called him and explained that she needed money urgently. Before I knew it, my husband transferred β¦200,000 to her.
I didn't complain because I knew she was his mother.
Two weeks later, my own mother became seriously ill, and my younger brother called me for help with her hospital bills.
I went to my husband and explained everything to him.
I told him, βPlease, my mother needs our help. Can we contribute something towards her treatment?β
Do you know what he told me?
βYour mother is not my responsibility. Let your brothers take care of her.β
I was shocked.
I reminded him that he had just sent money to his mother, but he became angry and told me never to compare his mother with mine.
That night, I cried until I fell asleep.
It wasn't even about the money anymore. It was the way he made me feel, as if my family meant nothing simply because I had married him.
The most painful part was that I had used some of my personal savings to help his family in the past without making an issue of it.
Now I am wondering whether I made a mistake by always trying to be a good wife.
Should I stop helping his family since he doesn't want to help mine?
Or should I accept that marriage means his family comes first?
Please, married women, I need your honest advice. If your husband can help his family but refuses to help yours when they are in need, what would you do? π
