Pigs have excellent feed conversion efficiency—they turn feed into body weight quickly.
They are highly prolific: a sow can give birth to 8–14 piglets per litter, often twice a year.
Pigs are omnivores and can eat a wide range of feed, including farm by-products.
They mature early and reach market weight within 5–7 months.
Pig manure is rich in nutrients and useful as organic fertilizer or for biogas.
Pig farming requires relatively small space compared to many other livestock.
Pork is one of the most widely consumed meats globally.
Common breeds reared for meat include Large White pig, Landrace pig, and Duroc pig.

Piggery (Pig Farming)
Piggery is the rearing and management of pigs for meat production.
Requires good housing, clean water, balanced feed, and proper sanitation.
Very profitable due to rapid growth and high reproduction rate.
Pigs can be raised intensively, semi-intensively, or extensively.
Proper vaccination and disease control are essential (e.g., swine fever).
Waste from pigs (manure) is valuable as organic fertilizer and for biogas.
Good record-keeping improves productivity and profit.
