As a poultry consultant, I recently almost made a critical mistake that could have cost a client their flock. It was a powerful reminder that we must never treat symptoms alone.

In this video, I share a crucial story from my consulting journey about why patience and thorough investigation—seeing the entire flock and their environment—are non-negotiable for true poultry success.

A client reported lacrimation (watery eyes), a classic symptom that usually suggests Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD). I was ready to recommend medication. But before I did, I asked for a video of the birds and their pen.

The result? It was NOT CRD—it was actually Fowl Pox! The client hadn't reported the defining symptoms (the black nodes on the comb and around the eyes). Just like that, rushing to solve the surface problem would have led to the wrong treatment, wasted time, wasted money, and possibly ruined the birds.
