Last Month, I shared photos and videos from a yogurt parfait event we catered for January.
A few people reposted them, and honestly, I just smiled and moved on.

The funny part?
We negotiated, agreed, and payment was made.....without me ever speaking to the celebrant.

A few years ago, I invested in learning mixology.

In 2016, I attended my first training in Lagos.

Last year, I paid for an advanced class because I knew I wanted to improve.

Yet, despite all the certificates and knowledge, I still found myself saying "no" to some event jobs.

Not because I wasn't capable...

But because I lacked the confidence and some of the tools to deliver at the standard I wanted.

In fact, I lost two event opportunities because I wasn't fully prepared.

It hurt.

Fast forward to last week...

I had the privilege of spending two days with a senior colleague who didn't just teach me recipes.

She poured herself into me.

She corrected me.She challenged me.She made me mix drink after drink.She shared practical tips from real events that no classroom could have taught me.

Then we went out on an actual event together.

That's when it clicked.

Sometimes, what you're missing isn't another certificate.

It's experience.It's mentorship.It's someone who believes in you enough to say, "Try it again."

Today, I negotiate event jobs with a different level of confidence.

Not because I know everything...

But because I've stopped letting fear speak louder than preparation.

And one thing is certain...

I can't afford to disgrace my new boss. 😂❤️

I won't lie...

Running a business is not easy.

There are days the orders come in and you feel unstoppable.

And there are days you're tired, mentally exhausted, and wondering if all the effort is even worth it.

I've had a few of those days lately.

But one thing I've learned is that consistency doesn't always mean doing big things.

Sometimes, it simply means showing up again.

That's exactly how I feel about my Tigernut Drink.

It's been a while since I made a batch, and I'm genuinely excited to be making a few bottles tomorrow.

One of the biggest lessons entrepreneurship has taught me is this:

Not every opportunity arrives with a trumpet.

Sometimes, it arrives as a message from a strange number at 9 PM.

A while ago, I received a WhatsApp message from someone I didn't know.

She got straight to the point and asked for the price of one of my services.

No greetings.No emojis.No small talk.

Just business.

To be honest, I almost ignored it.

You know those messages that make you wonder if someone is about to waste your time? 😅

That was exactly what I thought.

I mentioned it to my husband, and he simply said:

"Reply first. If it's not serious, you can ignore it later."

Fair advice.

So I replied.

To my surprise, she responded immediately, and we started talking.

As the conversation progressed, I learned that she runs an orphanage and was planning a program for the children.

Then came the part that completely caught me off guard.

She told me that when she was looking for vendors, my business was suggested alongside others by ChatGPT, and she wanted to confirm that I was real, active, and available.

Long story short...

We sealed the deal.

I delivered successfully.

She was satisfied.

And the relationship opened the door for future opportunities.

Imagine if I had ignored that message because it came from a stranger.

Imagine if I had assumed it wasn't worth my time.

That experience taught me something important:

Not every inquiry will become a customer.

But every genuine inquiry deserves professionalism.

Sometimes the opportunity you're praying for won't look the way you imagined.

It may come quietly.

It may come unexpectedly.

It may come from someone you've never met.

So here's my reminder to fellow business owners:
