Tribute to My Beloved Mother.
A loving and caring mother has gone to eternal glory. My heart is filled with gratitude to God for the precious life of my dear mother and for the sacrifices she made for me and the entire family.
From the very beginning of my life, my mother showed extraordinary love, care, and sacrifice to ensure that I lived and succeeded. One memory that will forever remain in my heart happened when I was about eight years old. While I was admitted in the hospital and given a single bed, my motherβwho was heavily pregnant at the timeβspent about a week and a half sleeping on the bare floor just to stay beside me and care for me. That was the kind of love she gave without hesitation.
Another remarkable sacrifice happened in 1987 when my mother was pregnant and still chose to fast and pray fervently for me. At the age of sixteen, I was struggling with addiction to alcohol, and my mother cried to God on my behalf. God eventually answered her prayers when I gave my life to Christ in March 1993 during a youth program at the Anglican Church in Imiekuri. I still remember vividly the message preached by the youth president that day which led me to Christ. I strongly believe that my mother's prayers and sacrifices paved the way for my salvation.
My mother was also a woman of strong faith who stood firmly against negative prophecies. In 2019, a prophet came and told her that her child βBomboyβ would be brought back dead from Lagos. But my mother boldly rejected that prophecy. She told the prophet to check the next compound because there were many people called Bomboy, and that the Bomboy who would die was not her son. God honoured her faith. Even when there were signs that the spirit of death was hovering around me, God delivered me and restored my faith in Him.
My mother was a woman who went the extra mile to support the work of God and the future of her children. She invested everything she had in the education of her children. Many people mocked her for spending so much on education, especially at a time when many parents were encouraging their children to abandon school and join construction work. Yet she remained steadfast in her belief that education would secure a better future for her children.
There is still so much more I could say about my beloved mother, but space will not allow me to say it all here. I remain forever grateful to God for giving me such a remarkable mother.
Rest on, dear mother.
Your sacrifices, prayers, and love will never be forgotten.
Your legacy lives on in the lives of your children.
