Congratulations Comrade Jerry Adams.

Today, we take another decisive step in our collective journey towards building a more united, peaceful and inclusive Kaduna State.

After wide consultations, deep reflection and earnest prayers, I am delighted to announce the nomination of Mr. Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, CNA, as my running mate in the 2027 Governorship Election.

This decision is far greater than the selection of a deputy governorship candidate. It is a reaffirmation of the values that have guided our administration since I took the oath of office on 29 May 2023; the values of inclusion, justice, fairness, equity and the unwavering conviction that every citizen of Kaduna State deserves a genuine sense of belonging.

Kaduna is a remarkable state, blessed with extraordinary diversity of faiths, ethnicities and cultures. That diversity is not a burden; it is our greatest strength. Our history has taught us difficult lessons about the heavy cost of division, mistrust and exclusion. Yet it has also shown us that when we choose dialogue over discord, inclusion over alienation, and justice over prejudice, our people achieve extraordinary things together.

For more than three years, our administration has worked tirelessly to heal old wounds and restore confidence in government. We have deliberately ensured that the dividends of democracy reach every part of our State. Across all 23 Local Government Areas, investments in roads, schools, hospitals, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection have been guided by one simple principle: no community should be left behind and no citizen should feel excluded.

Together with our traditional rulers, religious leaders, community organisations, women and youth groups, we have strengthened the foundations of peace through dialogue, mutual respect and shared development. As security has improved, farmers have returned to their lands, businesses have expanded, investments have grown and hope has steadily replaced fear in many communities. Our experience has affirmed a simple truth: lasting peace is built not only by security measures but by fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity.

It is in furtherance of this vision that I have chosen Mr. Jerry Adams to join me on this journey.

Jerry Adams is an accomplished public servant, an outstanding tax administrator and an institution builder whose leadership has transformed the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service into one of Nigeria's most respected revenue agencies. Through innovation, transparency and professionalism, he has helped strengthen our fiscal capacity, enabling government to invest even more in the education of our children, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and other critical sectors that improve the lives of our people.

Beyond his impressive professional accomplishments, Jerry Adams is a man of integrity, humility and quiet strength. He has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to peace, reconciliation and inclusive governance, believing, as I do, that Kaduna's diversity must always unite us rather than divide us. His emergence reflects our continuing determination to build a Kaduna where merit, competence and character remain the true qualifications for leadership.

As we look towards 2027, I invite every son and daughter of Kaduna State to see this moment not through the narrow prism of religion, ethnicity or geography, but through the broader vision of the Kaduna we are building together; a Kaduna where every child can dream without fear, every community can flourish, every faith is respected and every citizen has an equal stake in our common future.

The work of building a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Kaduna is not yet complete, but together we have laid a solid foundation. Together, we shall continue to strengthen that foundation and hand over to future generations a State that is more united, more secure, more just and more prosperous than we inherited.

May God continue to bless the good people of Kaduna State, and may He guide us as we continue this noble journey of service.

Two face Terracotta Head.

The artifact is a terracotta sculptural figure, vertically elongated and cylindrical in form. It represents a stylized human figure with two heads positioned side by side, both showing simplified facial features such as almond-shaped eyes, prominent brows, and schematic noses. The surface is coarse and granular, typical of hand-modeled clay fired at relatively low temperatures. Decorative elements, including raised bands, k***s, and relief motifs, are visible around the torso and waist area, suggesting clothing, ornaments, or body scarification. Portions of the sculpture are broken or eroded, especially at the upper and lower ends, indicating considerable age and burial damage.

The dual-headed representation is believed to carry symbolic meaning, possibly associated with spiritual authority, duality, leadership, or ancestral power. Such imagery may reflect beliefs in supernatural guardianship, ritual roles, or the coexistence of physical and spiritual realms. The decorative markings and body forms likely reference social identity, status, or ritual regalia.

This artifacts was found in archaeological sites in Janjala, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna state. It is currently preserved by Umaru Yusuf Portiskum at his residence in Kwoi Jaba Local Government area of Kaduna State.

Anthropologically, this artifact provides crucial insight into the social organization, belief systems, and artistic sophistication of the Nok people. It challenges outdated assumptions that complex figurative art emerged late in sub-Saharan Africa. The sculpture contributes to understanding early technological skills such as clay preparation, firing techniques, and symbolic communication.

This Habila's case just reminded me of one of the most controversial criminal cases, as well as one of the most controversial judicial decisions, that has ever gone before our courts.

Let me tell you a very sad story.

On May 9, 1979, there was a quarrel between Nafiu, a wealthy and high-profile businessman who is the eldest son of the influential Islamic scholar and business tycoon, Alhaji Isyaku Rabiu, and his wife, Hajiya Fati Mohammadu Nafiu, in their home in Kano.

The following morning, Nafiu began to behave in a highly strange and inconsistent manner.

He claimed to have lost his house keys and asked his cook to open the kitchen door. Not long after, he was seen putting soiled blankets and clothes into the boot of his Peugeot 504.

He then handed the keys to his cook and instructed him to serve his wife whenever she woke up, insisting that she was still asleep. According to those around him, Nafiu had never behaved that way before that day.

Hours later, his children and the cook became worried after waiting endlessly for their mother to come out of the room. They eventually went upstairs to wake her up.

What they found shocked everyone.

Hajiya Fati Mohammadu Nafiu was de@d.

The circumstances surrounding her de@th pointed in one direction. Someone had taken her life at night.

The Police suspected that she died from strangulation and immediately ordered an autopsy.

A team of medical experts and pathologists examined the body and concluded that the cause of de@th was asphyxia resulting from strangulation.

They also found visible marks of violence on her body.

Nafiu, however, maintained that his wife died peacefully in her sleep.

The Police did not believe his explanation.

So he was subsequently charged to court.

At the High Court of Kano State, the trial judge, Chief Justice Jones, after examining the evidence, held that the medical evidence was conflicting and unsatisfactory.

According to him, the prosecution failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the deceased died from strangulation. On that basis, he acquitted and discharged Nafiu Rabiu.

Because Nafiu Rabiu's family was one of the most powerful families in Kano, the judgment generated widespread public outrage.

To satisfy the yearnings of the people, the Kano State Government appealed the decision to the Federal Court of Appeal.

The Court of Appeal found that the trial judge failed to properly evaluate the evidence before him. Consequently, it overturned the acquittal and convicted Nafiu Rabiu.

But here came the interesting twist.

Instead of sentencing Nafiu Rabiu to de@th for culpable homicide, the Federal Court of Appeal held that he did not take his wife's life in cold blood. The court reasoned that the death must have resulted from a fight.

Relying on Section 222(4) of the Penal Code, the court convicted him of the lesser offence of culpable homicide not punishable with de@th and sentenced him to just four years imprisonment.

Nafiu Rabiu appealed to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court, in a judgment delivered by Justice Sir Udo Udoma, dismissed his appeal and affirmed the four-year prison sentence.

Interestingly, the Supreme Court openly expressed its frustration.

The court made it clear that it could not do what it considered proper justice by sentencing Nafiu Rabiu to de@th because the Kano State Government, at the peak of the proceedings, had withdrawn its cross-appeal which sought the de@th sentence.

That single decision tied the hands of the Supreme Court.

In the end, Nafiu Rabiu spent only four years in prison for an offence that ended the life of his wife under very mysterious circumstances.

That same Nafiu Rabiu is the elder brother of Abdul Samad Rabiu who is the Founder and Chairman of the BUA Group today.

The man who defended Nafiu Rabiu was Chief F.R.A. Williams, SAN, while Kehinde Sofola, SAN represented the Kano State Government.

This story is a painful reminder that it has been a long time coming for the wealthy to keep getting away with offences that could completely destroy the l!ves of ordinary people.

Till today, that case remains one of the most controversial constitutional and criminal law decisions in Nigeria's legal history. It is still frequently cited by lawyers as Nafiu Rabiu v. The State (1980) 8–11 S.C. 130.

Tinubu Reshuffles Cabinet, Sacks Wale Edun, Dangiwa

President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting the membership of the Federal Executive Council.

This was contained in a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, announcing that two cabinet members, Wale Edun and Ahmed Dangiwa, are to leave the cabinet, with replacements already named.

Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who will now take over the position. Oyedele previously served as minister of state in the ministry.

In the housing sector, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as ministerial nominee and minister designate for Housing and Urban Development.

The memo also directed Dangiwa to hand over to the minister of state in the ministry.

The memo stated that all handover and takeover processes should be completed on or before the close of business on Thursday, 23rd April, 2026.

Explaining the president’s decision, Akume said: “These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He said the president, in approving the cabinet reshuffle, has fully exercised his powers as conferred on him by Sections 147 and 148 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended).

The president thanked the outgoing ministers for their services to the nation while wishing them the best in all their future endeavours.

The president, Akume noted, equally assured all cabinet members that the process of reinvigoration shall be continuous.
