🏡 Let's Talk About Taking Care of Our Homes and Feeding Our Children Right
Greetings once again amazing parents! ❤️
One of the greatest responsibilities God has entrusted to us is the care of our homes.
A home is more than a building, it is the first place where children learn values, habits, discipline, and healthy living.
As parents, we are not only responsible for what enters our children's minds but also for what enters their bodies.
Today, I want us to reflect on a simple but important questions
Are we just feeding our children, or are we truly nourishing them?
There is a difference.
A child can eat several times a day and still not receive the nutrients needed for healthy growth and development. Our goal should not simply be to fill their stomachs but to provide foods that help build strong bodies, healthy brains, and good lifelong habits.
Growing children need foods that are rich in nutrients , foods that provide quality protein, healthy fats, fibre, vitamins, and minerals. These nutrients support brain development, healthy bones, strong immunity, concentration, and steady energy for learning and play.
Let's intentionally include more wholesome foods in our homes, such as fruits, vegetables, beans, eggs, fish, whole grains, and other nourishing meals. Water should be the preferred drink most of the time, with sugary drinks kept as occasional treats rather than daily habits.
Another area we should pay close attention to is added sugar.
Many foods and drinks marketed to children contain large amounts of added sugar. When children regularly consume too much sugar, they often develop stronger cravings for sweet foods, making healthier options less appealing. Over time, this can crowd out more nourishing foods from their diet.
This is why we should be deliberate/purposeful intentional about reducing the amount of added sugar in our family menu. Instead of allowing sweets, soft drinks, and sugary snacks to become everyday foods, let's create a home where wholesome meals are the norm and treats remain occasional.
Children usually develop their eating habits at home before they carry them into adulthood. The choices we make today can influence their health for many years to come.
This holiday is a wonderful opportunity to reset those habits.
Rather than making the holiday only about television, phones, video games, outings, or keeping the children entertained, let's make it a season of purpose.
Let this be the holiday where we will
- Teach our children healthy eating habits.
- Involve them in planning and preparing meals.
- Spend quality time together around the dining table.
- Teach practical life skills.
- Build godly character and family values.
- Pray, laugh, learn, and grow together.
The greatest gift we can give our children is not simply a holiday filled with activities, but a home filled with love, wisdom, healthy habits, and Deliberate/Purposeful intentional parenting.
Parents, let us be deliberate
Let us be purposeful.
Let us remember that every meal we serve, every conversation we have, and every habit we model is helping to shape the adults our children will become.
Let's make this holiday meaningful, impactful, and intentional raising children who are healthy in body, sound in mind, strong in character, and grounded in Christ.
Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31
Have a blessed and purposeful holiday with the children .
