TRACK YOUR BUSINESS BEFORE YOUR BUSINESS TRACKS YOU. ππ
One mistake many business owners make is running their business based on memory. Well, that includes me π
βIβm sure I made a profit last month.β
βI think this customer still owes me.β
βI canβt remember how much I spent on stock.β
βI know sales have been goodβ¦ but where did the money go?β π
And that is where proper record-keeping becomes important.
What you donβt record, you may struggle to measure.
And what you donβt measure, you may struggle to improve.
Your business records should help you keep track of things like:
π Your daily/weekly sales
π Your expenses
π Your profit and loss
π Money customers owe you
π Money you owe suppliers
π Your stock and purchases
π Your best-selling products
π Your business growth over time
Because sometimes, you think your business is doing well simply because money is coming in.
But money coming in is not the same as profit.
You may be selling every day and still be losing money without realising it.
Your records help you answer important questions:
What is working?
What is not working?
Where is the money going?
Which products are actually profitable?
What should I stop doing?
What should I do more of?
You donβt need complicated accounting software to start.
A simple notebook, spreadsheet or properly organised phone record can be a good beginning.
The important thing is to START.
Donβt run your business only by memory.
Record it.
Measure it.
Study it.
Learn from it.
Then make better decisions.
Because you cannot intentionally grow what you donβt properly understand. π
Business owners, be honest: Do you currently keep proper records of your business, or do you mostly rely on your memory? ππ
Good morning business owners and have a productive day ahead of you π₯°π
