There are some traditions that do not need introduction… they are simply part of who we are.

For the people of Mbaise, the New Yam Festival (Iri Ji) is a time to honour the land, give thanks for a bountiful harvest and come together as a people.

Eagle Schnapps was delighted to share in the joy and spirit of the 2026 New Yam Festival in Mbaise, Imo State, celebrating with a community that continues to hold its culture, traditions and heritage close to heart.

From the unveiling of the new yam to the music, dancing and shared moments of joy, it was a beautiful celebration of where we come from and the traditions that bring us together.

Eagle Schnapps don dey part of our traditional celebrations for a very long time. 🦅

Growing up, you’d hardly see a proper traditional celebration without Eagle Schnapps being part of it. So this year at Awankere, Eagle came through again!

From paying respect to the elders to supporting the football, draught, best dressed and other community activities, Eagle was right there with our people.

Different generations came together, celebrated, laughed and made memories. And honestly, na moments like this dey make culture and tradition dey very special.

There’s something special about seeing a whole community come together to celebrate where they come from.

That was the story at Awankere. The people of Itsekiri came out in their numbers, bringing the music, dancing, games, colours and all the excitement that made the festival feel truly alive.

Eagle Schnapps was there to share in those moments too, from the visit to the Ogieboro to the draught and football competitions, Best Dressed and everything else happening around the festival.

It was more than a weekend of activities. It was people coming together, having a good time and keeping their culture alive.

And honestly, that was beautiful to see. 🦅💚
