Little Back Story..

So, I had the pleasure of baking this beautiful wedding cake for a client. Everything went almost smoothly, but for the part where I needed wafer paper for the delicate cones planned for the design. Guess what? No wafer paper in sight! 😳 (long story). The creative baker in me kicked in. With some conviction from my cake items vendor, I decided to work with a food-safe crepe paper. Rolling it into the shape wasn't easy. I struggled, watched youtube videos etc, eventually, a friend who isn't a baker stepped in and showed me a simple approach that worked. It still wasn't easy for me though but it worked... that's how all hands got on deck, including my husband because... Omo!.., over here there's no room for disappointments, and just like that, those cones came to life even better than I imagined.

The cake turned out stunning, the client loved it, and I was reminded that expertise doesnt make you all knowing and also to stay open because help or do I say wisdom, and solutions don’t always come from people in the same field as you.

Has any baker here had a similar experience working with crepe paper? I’d love to hear how you handled it. We learn every day.
