Orodje of Okpe Inaugurates Sapele Okpe Community Caretaker Committee, Warns Against Misconduct, Sues for Peace, Unity
Orerokpe - In a bold move to restore order and entrench lasting peace in Sapele, His Royal Majesty, Orhue I, CFR, mni, Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, has inaugurated a Caretaker Committee to pilot the affairs of Sapele Okpe Community.
The inauguration, which took place at the Orodje's Palace, Orerokpe, on Saturday, 19th September, 2026, marks the end of a leadership vacuum in the community. The Committee will be in office for a period of 1 year and 6 months, that is, 18 months.
The Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office were administered by Chief Isaacs Oghenerhoro Itebu, Esq., a Legal Practitioner, under the authority of His Royal Majesty, Orhue I, CFR, mni, The Orodje of Okpe.
The Caretaker Committee comprises Rt. Hon. Churchill Ayomanor as Chairman, Mr. Goodluck Abeye Ogodo as Secretary, Col. Moses Abeke (Rtd) as Treasurer, and Mr. Freeborn Ogodo as Spokesman, among others.
In his royal charge, the revered monarch tasked the Committee to be transparent and accountable in the management of community affairs and resources, to accord due respect to elders, and to work in synergy with traditional institutions.
The Orodje further urged the Chairman and his executive members to unite all aggrieved members and bring everyone together in the interest of peace, unity and progress of Sapele.
The Orodje, who did not mince words, sounded a stern warning to the new executives that any member found wanting in character or conduct, or found fomenting trouble, will be removed immediately.
I want peace in Sapele. This Committee must not be seen as taking sides. Anyone whose behaviour is inimical to the peace and progress of Sapele Okpe Community will be removed without delay, the Orodje warned.
He further directed that any member nursing ambition to contest the substantive election must resign from the Caretaker Committee three months before the expiration of their tenure to allow for a level playing field.
He also mandated the Committee to midwife a constitution that will guide and govern the community going forward.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Rt. Hon. Churchill Ayomanor, thanked the Orodje of Okpe, the Okpe Traditional Council and the entire Sapele Okpe Community for the opportunity to serve. He promised to work in accordance with the directives of His Royal Majesty, ensure peace in the community and work assiduously for the development and growth of Sapele Okpe Community.
