The more I observe snails, the more I realize how interesting and unique they really are.

Sometimes, even when you cover them properly, if the cover isn’t heavy enough, they still find a way to push through and crawl out. What surprises me most is how they move comfortably around rough or cracked surfaces without getting injured easily.

For such soft-looking creatures, snails are actually very strong and highly adaptable

It honestly made me think deeper about the benefits hidden inside this natural source of food.

Snail meat is packed with important nutrients like protein, calcium, iron, and magnesium, all of which help support the body in different ways.

SOMETHING INTERESTING HAPPENED TODAY!
I actually poured water into the basin because I thought the snails would calm down and stop moving around, but surprisingly, they kept moving comfortably inside the water

Watching them made me realize how adaptable and active snails really are. At that moment, they almost felt like aquatic animals

One thing I can confidently say is that these snails are very fresh and healthy

And guess what? They’re currently on bonanza sale for just ₦8,000

Although it’s already sold out, I still want to share a small secret about the small thin-shelled (dwarf) snails like the ones I posted yesterday.

With this type of snail, you honestly don’t need to worry too much about adding kpomo or plenty meat to your soup. You’ll still enjoy something rich in protein and calcium.

For people who don’t eat red meat or are trying to eat healthier, this is actually a very good option.

At first, I honestly thought that because I enjoy proteins like snail and mushroom, everyone else would feel the same way. But I later realized that’s not the case at all.

In some countries, people don’t even see snail as food. Even here in Nigeria, there are communities where snail is considered taboo, while others don’t eat it but see it more as a raw material used for things like cosmetics.

It’s the same with mushroom—there are places where people are not familiar with it at all. Sometimes when you mention it, they’ll even ask, “What is that?”

That experience really opened my eyes. It made me understand that people’s preferences are shaped by culture, exposure, and what they’re used to not just what we personally like.

I didn’t just start snail and mushroom farming randomly. It actually came from something personal. I really enjoy eating them, especially because they remind me of how my mum used to cook when I was younger. She would prepare this rich vegetable soup with mushroom, snail, periwinkle, stockfish, and plenty of crayfish with red oil—it was always so special.

One day, I wanted to recreate that same meal, but I couldn’t easily find good snail and mushroom. That experience stayed with me.

Later on, when I got involved in nutrition, I discovered that these same foods were being highly recommended by doctors and nutritionists because of their health benefits.

So for me, it became more than just food I love, it turned into something meaningful and worth building a business around.
