LOW-COST WATER CARE TIPS FOR FISH FARMERS (Save Money, Save Fish!)
Many fish farmers lose money not because of feed…
Not because of fingerlings…
But because of poor water management.
And the painful part?
Most water problems can be prevented with SIMPLE and LOW-COST methods.
If you're serious about profit, read this carefully 👇
1️⃣ Change Water Strategically (Not Emotionally)
Don’t wait until fish start gasping before changing water.
✔ Change 20–30% of pond water weekly
✔ Avoid changing all the water at once (it shocks the fish)
✔ Change water early morning or late evening
Small, regular changes are cheaper than treating sick fish.
2️⃣ Reduce Overfeeding (Your Water Is Not a Dustbin)
Excess feed = waste
Waste = ammonia
Ammonia = stress + death
Feed what your fish can finish in 10–15 minutes.
Remove leftovers immediately.
Tip: If water smells bad, you’re overfeeding.
3️⃣ Use Salt — The Cheap Doctor 🧂
Salt helps:
✔ Reduce stress
✔ Control parasites
✔ Improve slime coat
Use non-iodized salt.
General safe practice: 2–3kg per 1,000 liters (for treatment purposes).
DON'T ’t OVERDOSE.
4️⃣ Natural Aeration Works!
No expensive machine?
✔ Use paddle method
✔ Pour water back into pond from height
✔ Reduce stocking density
✔ Plant grass around pond to reduce overheating
Oxygen is life. Low oxygen = morning fish death.
5️⃣ Remove Sludge Regularly
The black dirt at the bottom?
That is toxic waste.
✔ Siphon bottom regularly
✔ Avoid stirring pond unnecessarily
✔ Don’t allow feed to accumulate
Clean pond = healthy fish = faster growth.
6️⃣ Observe Before Disaster Happens 👀
Your fish will warn you:
● Gasping at surface
● Slow movement
● Clustering
● Sudden feed rejection
Early action saves money.
🚨 Truth Many Farmers Ignore:
Water quality is MORE important than expensive feed.
You can use average feed with good water and still profit.
But you cannot use the best feed in bad water and succeed.
