I was in Berlin again last Monday, Rum Depot.

A few days ago, the newsletter for the pre-sale of;
Peated Rum No. 5, "Broken Barrel," and "Frankenstill Rum," was sent out.

There are currently only 14 bottles left.

I'm grateful and proud that the loyal Schotman community pre-ordered it,
despite the price difference from "normal" Peated Rums.
This feels like a boost, despite the loss of so many beautiful rum.

** Broken Barrel**
Sometimes, we encounter setbacks that require us to pause and reflect.
A few months back, while I was entering the barrel storage, I was met not only with the delightful aroma of the angel’s share but also the unmistakable scent of Peated Rum.
Like Spider-Man, all my alarm bells went off!!

Unfortunately, my fears were confirmed: the very cask I had set my sights on for our next release—a five-year-old Peated Rum aged in an ex-Port barrel—had suffered an unfortunate break, leading to a drip of precious rum escaping onto the ground 🥹

I managed to salvage about 25 liters, but alas, the rest was lost.
You can imagine the momentary shock that left me needing to sit down to process this loss.
This brings up an important question: what should I do with the remaining liquid?
Should I top up other barrels with the 25 liters or create something special for the friends of Schotman?

After consulting with several friends, the consensus was clear: BOTTLE IT!
We’re only releasing +/- 50 bottles, each containing 50cl.

**🔥 Frankenstill🔥 **
I’m thrilled to share that Frankenstill is back in action!
Together with Erik Legters, we distilled some fine spirits on New Year's Eve,
to recapture the back-to-the-roots feeling after a few hectic years.
As many of you know, I’ve been experimenting with cold distillation.
While it hasn’t yet met my expectations, I successfully distilled a lovely,
clear Peated Rum using Frankenstill.

This highly unusual Peated Rum will not be sold, but will be given away in a very special way.
