Amsterdam is a place that has given us so much. It brought us together and gave us friendships, opportunities, experiences, and the space to develop ourselves, something we’re really grateful for. It will always be part of our story. At the same time, we realise that it isn’t where we want to plant our roots.
For us, this isn’t one big decision, but something that has been growing for a while now. Especially since becoming parents, we’ve started to look at things differently. We notice how easy it is to get used to always wanting more: more options, more things, more speed, without really questioning it.
How do you keep up with a world that constantly tells us we need more? And how do we teach our children about frugality if we’re not the best example ourselves? It made us reflect on what “enough” actually means for us. We believe it’s found in the more simple, pure forms of life.
We want to create a life that feels a bit slower, with more time together, more time outside, and more connection to what actually matters. A life where we can learn again, about nature, seasons, plants, and making things with our own hands.
We want to reset and reconnect, and create a different kind of foundation and a place to pass on to our children and to others who feel drawn to experience that way of living. Not in a perfect way, but by learning as we go.
