Today, I’m closing a chapter of a journey that began in 2018.
With fire, trust, and a desire to change the cacao industry, I started Pacha de Cacao with one belief: that the whole cacao fruit deserved to be valued, not just the bean.
We built a circular supply chain from scratch and turned cacao fruit pulp into products that reached places it had never been before. Our drinks made it into all Dutch wholesalers and hundreds of shops, restaurants, cafés and canteens across Europe and the United States. Even with all this progress, we couldn’t reach the scale needed to make the numbers work for the long run.
When we started, there were no examples to follow. Today, around fifty companies worldwide work with the cacao pulp or husks. Knowing Pacha helped spark that movement makes me so incredibly proud. We’ve left an important footprint on the industry.
I’m proud of this adventure and grateful to everyone who helped to make it possible. The investors who believed in it, my team who always went above and beyond, our partners and farmers in Ecuador, the people who showed up at the right moment to support or guide, and the customers who shared Pacha’s story with heart. Thank you so much.
Pacha, in its current form, will end. But the dream, the work and the fire will continue.
The coming weeks will be about closing things down with care, reflecting, and preparing for the next chapter.
