A little Tesmi therapy.

Golden butter, slowly simmering away… and somehow we could watch these bubbles all day.

It’s still a little cloudy here, which means it needs more time. Slowly but surely, the butter clarifies and gets one step closer to becoming Tesmi.

Good things take time. And sometimes, they’re pretty satisfying to watch too. 👀

We’re Mateos & Judith, the founders of Mama Habesha.

Mama Habesha is where our two cultures come together: Dutch organic butter meets the Habesha tradition of seasoned ghee, inspired by the flavours of Eritrea and Ethiopia. 🇳🇱🇪🇷🇪🇹

We like to say we’re literally melting the best of two cultures together in one jar of Tesmi.

And we can’t wait to bring that flavour to more kitchens in the Netherlands and beyond.

Yesterday’s bread = today’s crunchy upgrade.

Before you throw out that leftover bread or baguette, give it a second life with Tesmi.

Cut it into cubes, toss with melted Tesmi and bake until golden and crispy. The seasoning in Tesmi give your homemade croutons plenty of flavour without needing much else.

Perfect on salads, soups or simply as a crunchy snack.

Fresh veggies, a jar of Tesmi and you’re already halfway to a flavourful meal.
Sauté, roast or grill your vegetables with a spoonful of Tesmi and let the aromatic herbs and spices do the rest. Simple ingredients, plenty of flavour.

Here, our founder Mateos is working on a fresh batch: slowly transforming melted organic butter with onion, garlic, ginger and our seasoning blend into the Tesmi you know and love.

From Biofach to our next fairs!

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to present Mama Habesha at Biofach. Now we’re getting ready for two more exciting fair weeks!

Next week you’ll find us at the FoodSpecialisten beurs in Gorinchem, followed by Gastvrij Rotterdam the week after.

The easiest way to give your rice more flavour? Add Tesmi.

Cook your rice as usual and add a spoonful of Tesmi for a rich, aromatic flavour inspired by Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine.

You can add Tesmi while the rice is cooking, or stir it in once it’s done and let it melt through the warm rice. Simple, but so good.
