KuierKos South African Food & Wine Shop My food journey started at my ouma’s kitchen table in Limpopo, South Africa. Andreas and I came to the Netherlands in 2007.

She not only made the most delicious traditional dishes, but there was always extra for family or friends who might turn up. My family’s true South African hospitality would later become the foundation of my business in the Netherlands — KuierKos. Life in a new country is tough, and making it one’s home takes time and effort. After almost ten years and two lovely children, Anne and Paul, we still

love it! In 2014, friends of ours returned to South Africa and sold us their biltong business. My father-in-law always says: “Luck favours those who are ready” and KuierKos was born, expanding in ways we could not have dreamed about at that time. KuierKos brings a warm and welcoming experience that allows South African expats and locals to enjoy original, good quality South African food. Kuierkos is vir my ’n stukkie Suid-Afrika hier in Nederland. Alles smaak soos huis en bring sommer lekker herinneringe terug. Die koeksisters is sonder twyfel die beste wat ek in Nederland gekry het – vars, sappig en perfek soet. Die beskuit is ook heerlik, net soos mens dit van die huis af onthou.

En dan die biltong – beslis die lekkerste biltong in Nederland! Goeie gehalte, uitstekende smaak! Ek kan Kuierkos sterk aanbeveel vir enige Suid-Afrikaner wat ’n bietjie van die huis mis, of vir enigiemand wat eg Suid-Afrikaanse lekkernye wil probeer.

A special shout-out to our very own husband and dad. Andreas is a man who always puts your family first. No matter how busy life gets, you make time for Anne and Paul, ensuring that each of them feels seen, loved, and special.

You work tirelessly, often juggling multiple jobs, and as a lecturer, you always make time for every student who needs guidance, encouragement or simply a listening ear. You have a remarkable way of offering a hug when it’s needed most and making people feel valued.

Thank you for filling our lives with your quirky jokes, funny sayings, and all the little moments that make life so special. We are incredibly grateful for your love, generosity, and the way you care for everyone around you.

Andreas’ dad, Oupa Max is a man of few words, raised in the heart of the Karoo. He is patient, kind, and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Some of his students might disagree and remember him as an impatient professor who expected nothing less than excellence! 😉

A man deeply respected by his peers, admired by his family, and appreciated by everyone whose lives he has touched.
