Tonkatsu with Egg Fried Rice and Cabbage Salad 🇯🇵
This summer, I had the privilege of spending my holiday in Japan. Besides the incredible culture and breathtaking nature, the food certainly didn’t disappoint either!
We enjoyed Tonkatsu with cabbage salad at an authentic little Japanese restaurant, and right then I knew: I have to try making this myself!
Using a couple of delicious Livar pork shoulder chops from The Butchery, I made this incredibly tender and juicy Tonkatsu. Seasoned with nothing more than salt and pepper and coated twice in egg and panko breadcrumbs, this is a seriously crispy masterpiece. Just about 6 minutes in the deep fryer, and you’re in for a treat!
I served it with an authentic Tonkatsu sauce, some delicious egg fried rice, and a refreshing cabbage salad with a sesame-Kewpie dressing. I served the salad in a separate bowl, which is why you won’t see it in the photos.
An absolutely delicious meal that took me straight back to all those unforgettable culinary experiences in Japan! 🇯🇵
