These young people are bringing their priorities on education and entrepreneurship directly to OECD experts in Berlin 📢

Recently, members of Youthwise, the OECD’s Youth Advisory Board, came together in Berlin to share their experiences and ideas on two issues that will shape their futures: education and entrepreneurship. 💬

During the workshop, they spoke with OECD experts about the opportunities and barriers young people face when developing their own businesses and ideas.

They also discussed the future of PISA, the OECD’s international student assessment programme, and how it can remain relevant and meaningful for the young people taking part in it.

The TUI Care Foundation has supported Youthwise since 2023, helping create opportunities for young people to contribute directly to international discussions on education, employment, climate resilience, skills and other issues affecting their generation.

The current 2025–2027 Youthwise cohort will continue bringing young people’s perspectives into OECD conversations over the next two years. 🌍

As tourism grows across the Western Balkans, there is an opportunity to connect more of that demand with local farms, food and rural communities. 🌱

Together with GIZ, the TUI Care Foundation is launching TUI Field to Fork Western Balkans across Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro.

The new project will work with 90 agricultural households, supporting farmers to strengthen their skills in areas such as soil health, crop diversity and water conservation. At the same time, farmers, food producers and tourism businesses will work together to bring more local products and rural experiences into the visitor economy.

Over the next 27 months, the project aims to develop more than 20 new tourism experiences, including farm visits and culinary activities, and establish at least 20 partnerships between agriculture and tourism. These new offers are expected to engage at least 1,000 visitors during the project period. 🧺🌾

The initiative is co-financed by the TUI Care Foundation and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ.

In Rwanda, UN Tourism Small Grants Programme, enabled by the TUI Care Foundation, and in partnership with Nature Rwanda, is transforming Busaga Natural Forest into a future eco-tourism destination. The initiative is training 30 women and young people to guide forest tours, run eco-tourism services, and create local handicrafts for sale.

On a recent visit, community-trained guides led the way through the forest, and visitors left with handcrafted baskets, bags and decor, bringing direct income to local artisans.

Protecting nature and building livelihoods goes hand in hand.

This year’s World Tourism Day focuses on the role of digital technology and artificial intelligence in reshaping tourism. 💻🤖

But the most meaningful applications are not always the most visible ones.

Across TUI Care Foundation projects, technology is being used in very different ways: helping entrepreneurs address visitor pressure in Spain, supporting biodiversity monitoring in Rwanda, strengthening the digital capabilities of tourism businesses in Cambodia, and making tourism training accessible globally through the TUI e-Academy.

Together, these examples show that smarter tourism is not simply about adopting more technology. It is about using it where it can make a real difference for destinations, businesses, people and nature. 🌍

Here's what that looks like in practice ⬇️

Jaguars, ocelots, manatees and sea turtles all share one remarkable home in Mexico’s Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve 🐆

But growing tourism and infrastructure are putting increasing pressure on wildlife habitats across the Maya Ka’an region.

That is why the TUI Care Foundation, together with AMIGOS DE SIAN KA'AN and Pro Conservación Peninsular, is launching TUI Wildlife Mexico.

Over the next two years, the project will restore 70 hectares of mangroves, establish 19 camera-trap stations to monitor more than 10 priority species, and train over 400 local people in ecological monitoring, conservation and tourism practices. 🐦🌴

A community brigade from Xhazil-Sur will lead mangrove restoration activities, while local cooperatives will help monitor wildlife and contribute data to Mexico’s National Commission of Natural Protected Areas.

By linking conservation with nature-based tourism, the project aims to strengthen protection of the ecosystems that local communities, wildlife and visitors all depend on.

The future of entrepreneurship in the Maghreb is female 🚀

Despite strong education systems, young women in Tunisia and Egypt continue to face significant barriers to employment and entrepreneurship. In Tunisia, women make up only a quarter of the workforce, while in Egypt many young people remain outside employment, education or training.

That’s why the TUI Care Foundation and Mentor Arabia Foundation are launching new TUI Futureshapers projects in Monastir, Mahdia and Hurghada.

Over the next two years, 800 young women will take part in peer mentoring and develop skills for employment and entrepreneurship. 80 of them will first be trained as peer mentors, while participants with business ideas in tourism and the creative industries will also have access to entrepreneurship training.

Twelve selected entrepreneurs will receive seed funding and individual coaching to develop their ideas further. 💡

The programme builds on the previous TUI Futureshapers initiative in Tunisia, which supported 592 young women through mentoring between 2023 and mid-2025.

On Amsterdam's canals, there are more stories to discover than the ones you’ll find in a guidebook. 🇳🇱⚓️

TUI Colourful Cultures Amsterdam, together with Rederij Lampedusa, is creating new ways for visitors to connect with the people, cultures and lived experiences that have shaped the city.

This month, the boat also becomes a stage. 🎭🎶

As part of the project, the Floating Stage transforms Amsterdam’s canals into a moving cultural venue, bringing together storytelling, music, theatre and performance.

Want to experience it for yourself? There’s still time to step aboard. 🛟

✨ On 27 September, Evin Acar and Jugal Bhinde, will explore conflict, loss, memory and disappearing language and song through performances called "Forbidden Song" and "Before Arrival".

✨ On 3 October, Hermes Ahmedi will explore what it means for a life to be valued through his performance called "Welcome".

Giving back can change the picture. 💙

On International Day of Charity, we’re celebrating the people and partnerships behind years of work in destinations around the world.

You can also support positive change through a symbolic adoption – choose a 🐢 turtle, 🪸 coral reef star or 🌳 tree and contribute to one of the TUI Care Foundation’s nature conservation programmes.

Which one would you choose?
