Next Saturday, 5 September 2026, is National Potato Harvest Day. Several Dutch farmers are once again opening their fields. An important but, above all, enjoyable day, initiated by the Dutch Potato Organisation (NAO) to teach consumers about potato cultivation and harvesting.

This year, our key U.S. selection field was relocated from Washington to North Dakota, moving from a mild maritime climate to a harsh dryland environment. Supported by our partners Carter Farms and Agvise Research, our colleagues Rian Stekelenburg and Guus Heselmans successfully completed the annual selection.

It was inspiring to share our results on-site with our U.S. network and exchange insights. A valuable step forward towards future-proof potato varieties!

Last week, we organized our summer grower meetings, welcoming many of our French and Dutch growers.

This time, we combined the pool meeting with demonstrations of the latest technologies, including optical grading and selection robots. We also informed the group about our new (potential) varieties on the demofield. The meetings were both informative and inspiring for our growers and Meijer staff, providing a great opportunity to share knowledge and experiences.

On behalf of everyone involved, we would like to thank again the companies for presenting their technologies and the growers for welcoming us to their farms.
