As 2025 draws to a close and 2026 begins, we step into the new year with ambition, curiosity, and a drive to contribute to meaningful scientific progress. Weโ€™re excited to joinย ๐—ฆ๐—ง๐—ฅ๐—”๐—œ๐—ก-๐—”๐—œ, an innovative project led by Hogeschool Leiden (LCAB,ย research group Microbial Genomics, Astrid Heikema, PhD, Marijke Mostert),ย exploring new ways to discover bacterial strains through AI-assisted image analysis,ย data-guided culturing, DNA sequencing, and in-depth genome analysis.

๐—ฆ๐—ง๐—ฅ๐—”๐—œ๐—ก-๐—”๐—œ aims to investigate whether companiesย could ultimatelyย upload colony images and rapidly gain insights into both known and potentially novel strains. While the project is highly exploratory, the approach has the potential to make strain discovery faster, more data-driven, and more scalable, opening new opportunities across fermentation, probiotics, sustainable agriculture, and biotechnology.

Our role focuses on scaling concepts and bridging research with practical applications. We contribute by building strategic partnerships and sharing our experience with breakthrough ingredients such as Keto-Fructose and Non-Animal Casein, which may expand the microbial possibilities being explored within the project. In addition, our industrial cloud architecture and our commercial and regulatory insights help support the journey from experimental results to potential real-world relevance.
