✨ It’s New Year’s celebration time! ✨
So the big question is: what do you drink?
I’m Marijn from HighEndTasting.com — and the answer is simple:
Champagne. Champagne. Champagne.
What kind of champagne?
👉 That depends on what you eat.
In the Netherlands, we eat oliebollen on New Year’s Eve. They’re sweet, so go for a champagne with more sugar than Brut.
Sec has more sugar, Demi-Sec even more, and the sweetest style is Doux.
🥂 With oliebollen, my choice is Demi-Sec — a perfect match.
No sweet food?
Then go Brut or drier. Dry champagne is where the magic happens: purer grape flavors, more precision, more depth.
Sweet champagne was popular in the past, when production methods weren’t as refined. Today, quality is so high that dry champagne truly shines.
And no — not Crémant, not Prosecco, not Cava, not Sekt.
No.
It’s champagne, baby.
New Year’s Eve is special — so we drink champagne because… it’s champagne.
✨ Pro tip:
Start the night with something special — a vintage champagne. One year, one story, one character.
Later, switch to a Tradition, Réserve or Signature champagne: blended, consistent, always reliable.
Because in the end…
🍾 Champagne is still champagne.
And on New Year’s Eve, there’s nothing better
🍾✨
