♠️ DEAD MAN’S HAND ♣️ by
It’s one of the most famous hands in poker: two black aces and two black eights.
The legend dates back to August 2, 1876, when Wild West gunslinger and lawman Wild Bill Hickok was playing poker in a saloon in Deadwood, South Dakota. During the game, he was shot from behind and killed instantly. According to the story, the cards in his hand were the ace of spades, ace of clubs, eight of spades, and eight of clubs. Since then, the combination has become known as the “Dead Man’s Hand.”
What makes the story even more intriguing is that no one knows for certain what the fifth card was or even whether those were actually the cards Hickok held. The legend only became widely accepted decades after his death.
Today, the Dead Man’s Hand remains a symbol of risk, fate, and the fine line between luck and disaster.
