Elemental Water Makers provides renewable driven desalination systems for drinking water production. With rising energy prices and increasing freshwater scarcity, there is a growing need for renewable driven desalination. Elemental Water Makers has developed an innovative desalination system that only uses solar and/or wind energy in an efficient and costs effective way. Our innovation only uses f

luctuating renewables to continuously produce low cost drinking water from seawater or brackish groundwater. A solution very suitable for regions with a lack of fresh water. Join us in solving fresh water scarcity by the sun, sea, earth & wind!

“Ko e mana mei langi” — A miracle from heaven. ☀️💧

That is how locals on the remote Tongan islands of Hunga and Matamaka describe their new access to safe, clean drinking water. For generations, these outer island communities faced severe water shortages, relying on expensive water shipments delivered by boat.

Not anymore.

In partnership with Bluemont Pty Ltd, a new solar-powered desalination unit is now turning seawater into up to 4,300 liters of drinking water every single day. As the Project Lead shared: "The beauty of this system is that it uses the sun, something we have in abundance, to solve one of our biggest challenges."

Here’s why this project is a model for climate resilience across the Pacific:

☀️💧 100% Solar-Powered: Runs entirely on abundant sunshine without relying on expensive, imported diesel fuel.
☀️💧 Local Independence: Eliminates the wait for emergency boat deliveries, empowering residents to produce clean water right on their island. ☀️💧 Versatile Impact: Provides safe water for drinking, cooking, agriculture, and sanitation.

With the declaration of the ‘Super El Niño’, this work could not be more important. We are currently in discussions with the Tongan Government, writing a proposal to approach the Asian Development Bank to roll out solar desalination to 23 further remote communities in Tonga.

👇 We’d love to hear from you: On which other Pacific island would you like to see solar desalination deployed next? Let us know in the comments! 💬

Longevity milestone achieved in Efoetsy, ! 📣 🚰

Our solar desalination unit has officially logged 23,794 hours of production. The result? Over 21,811 m³ of clean drinking water generated for the local community and schools, powered entirely by the sun.

Operating in a remote, decentralised location comes with unique environmental and logistical challenges. Having this unit run smoothly for 7.5 consecutive years is a true testament to the build quality, durability, and field-tested reliability of our solar desalination technology.

This sustained operation delivers real, measurable progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
🔹 SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation): Securing a reliable, year-round source of safe, affordable drinking water, eliminating dependency on unsafe wells or expensive water trucking.
🔹 SDG 7 (Affordable & Clean Energy): Operating completely off-grid, utilizing 100% solar energy and zero fossil fuels.
🔹 SDG 13 (Climate Action): Significantly reducing regional carbon emissions by replacing high-emissions water transportation with clean, on-site solar production.
🔹 SDG 4 & 5 (Quality Education & Gender Equality): By bringing water directly to schools and the community, we reduce the burden of long-distance water collection. This gives children—especially young girls—more time to focus on their education.

None of this would be possible without a strong ecosystem of partners working on the ground. A huge shoutout and thank you to the Elemental Water Foundation, Trans-Mad' Développement, and Abc Domino for working alongside us to deliver sustainable water solutions where they are needed most.

As international organisations like the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP, UNICEF Madagascar, the World Bank Group and the African Development Bank Group continue to emphasise, long-term decentralised solar desalination is a critical blueprint for achieving global climate resilience and true water security.

What a great experience this has been! Thank you to everyone who made these 2 projects in Tonga possible.

Yesterday was World Water Day 2026! 🌍💧 This year’s theme "Where water flows, equality grows" is at the very heart of what we do.

When a village gets a reliable source of clean water, the burden of collection is lifted from the shoulders of women and girls. That means more time for school, more safety, and more opportunity.

We’re proud to highlight the incredible progress being made through our partnerships:
🇲🇬 Madagascar: Replaced saltwater wells to save thousands of hours for local women.
🇸🇴 Somalia: Providing a lifeline for 18,000 people alongside Save the Children.
🇾🇪 Yemen: Delivering fossil-fuel-free water in volatile regions with CARE International.

One of the biggest hurdles in sustainable development isn’t the technology, it’s the upfront cost.

At Elemental Water Makers, we’re solving this with Phased Desalination. Instead of building for a 10-year projection on day one, our modular systems allow resorts, communities, villas, industries, and municipalities to "Grow as You Go.

The Benefits of Phased Expansion:
✅ Minimise Initial Capex: Align your investment with your current water demand.
✅ Seamless Scalability: Add capacity in stages as your project grows
✅ Maintain Efficiency: High-performance desalination at every step.

From providing grid-independent water in to chemical-free solutions in and life-saving solar desalination in , we are proving that environmental stewardship and economic growth go hand-in-hand. Check out how we’re transforming water security across 37 countries:

3.275 billion liters of fresh water in 37 countries.

2025 was the year sustainable desalination went global. While the challenges of access to clean water are increasing, our decentralised solutions are ramping up. This year, our solar desalination projects achieved:

💧 3.275 Billion Liters: Fresh water created from the sea (enough to fill 1310 Olympic pools).
🌱 16,375 Tons of CO2 Saved: The equivalent of planting 750,000 trees.
📉 70% Cost Reduction: The average drop in water costs for our implemented projects.
🌍 37 Countries: The global footprint of our mission to end water scarcity.

None of this would be possible without our incredible team, partners, and community. Thank you for helping us make the world a better place, one project at a time.

The challenges of water access are growing, but so is our commitment. Bring on 2026. 🚀
