Wandering 17 km around Akita in a sunny day in different neighborhoods delivered some wonderful textures today. Sore feet, but happy days.

Today was an amazing surprise.
We went to one of the best exhibitions I have seen in a long time bij Sachiko Kazama. Her graphic style work, done in very large woodblock prints is certainly the best I ever came across. God bless Kazama for the heavy thematics in her work and the way she executes this in phenomenal black and white woodblock prints. It certainly is not easy work. No flowers here but depictions of a crude world in past and present with sometimes a glimmer of hope somewhere tucked in but difficult to see.

And the Hirosaki MOCA is as wonderful as the artists they bring.

We got there by surprise. But we were totally blown away by her visions and images.
What a day!

If you have the chance go and visit.

Dreaming Demons
It’s wonderful to see art teacher Wilma bringing her class to De Lindenberg to hold a drawing lesson amidst my exhibition. Habits formed early last a lifetime.
