🤝 A fairer food system starts with fair incomes.
On the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, we're highlighting the importance of a Living Wage.

The people who grow our food deserve to earn enough to support themselves and their families and meet their basic needs.

That's why Eosta works with growers and partners on initiatives that help close the gap between actual wages and a Living Wage.

Because sustainability isn't only about protecting the planet. It's also about the people who make our food possible. 💚

Last week, our team was in Madrid for Fruit Attraction, three days of reconnecting with growers, meeting new faces and looking ahead to the next seasons.

But behind every piece of organic fruit and veg, there are people who make it possible. The growers who nurture their crops, and the people who work to bring their produce from the farm to your table.

At Eosta, connecting these people has been at the heart of what we do for many years. Together, we're helping make organic produce more accessible and building a more sustainable food system.

On Thank a Farmer Day, we celebrate the growers who make it all possible. And we're proud to be part of the journey.

Here's to growing a more organic world, together. 🌱

Who else needs organic farms? 🌼
We do, of course — organic farms provide us with the food we eat. But we’re not the only ones.

Bees and other pollinators search for flowers. Birds find food and places to shelter. Earthworms and countless tiny organisms work beneath our feet, helping to create healthy, living soil.

A farm is more than a place where food is produced. It can also be part of a much bigger ecosystem.

Organic agriculture works with natural processes and avoids synthetic pesticides and fertilisers. Combined with practices that create space for biodiversity, farms can provide valuable habitats for plants, insects and wildlife.

So when you look at an organic orchard or field, there may be much more happening than you can see at first glance. 🌱🦋

Healthy farms need biodiversity — and biodiversity needs space to thrive.

There’s more behind this pineapple than you might think. 🍍🌿
On the farm where these organic pineapples are grown, sustainability goes far beyond the fruit itself.

🌧️ Rain-grown pineapple
The pineapples grow almost entirely with natural rainfall, with virtually no irrigation needed.

🌳 450 hectares of protected rainforest
Part of the farm is dedicated to protecting rainforest, creating space for native plants, wildlife and biodiversity alongside agricultural production.

👧 Childcare & education for local families
The farm also supports its local community through childcare and educational opportunities for the families who live and work there.

For us, this is an important part of the story behind organic food.

A pineapple isn’t just a pineapple. Behind it are decisions about water, nature, people and the future of the landscape where it was grown.

And those are the stories we want to make visible. 💚 Visit their farm: https://www.natureandmore.com/growers/andres-nunez/

Do all avocados use huge amounts of irrigation water? 🥑💧 Not necessarily.

The water impact of an avocado depends heavily on **where and how it is grown**.

In regions with enough natural rainfall, avocado trees can receive much of the water they need directly from the sky. This is what we mean when we talk about **Organic Raingrown** avocados.

Instead of automatically assuming that every avocado has the same water footprint, it is important to look at the growing conditions behind the fruit: the local climate, rainfall and irrigation requirements.

Because two avocados on the supermarket shelf can look almost identical, while the way they were grown can be very different.

That’s exactly why transparency matters.

Knowing where your food comes from gives you a clearer picture of the story — and the resources — behind it. 🌧️🥑

What’s behind your orange? 🍊🌧️ An orange looks simple. But behind it is a whole story.

It starts here: Dioni Suarez and the smallholder farmers in Peru grow organic oranges using something remarkably simple: rain.

Their oranges are 100% raingrown, which means they grow using natural rainfall without irrigation. But water is only one part of their story.

The farms are small and diverse, with oranges growing alongside crops such as mango, papaya, coconut, bananas, pepper and bamboo. This diversity supports biodiversity and helps create more resilient farming systems. The soil is cared for using organic compost and natural fertilisers, without synthetic fertilisers.

Once harvested and packed, the oranges make their journey by sea to Europe — and eventually arrive on the supermarket shelf.

So when you pick up an orange, there is much more behind it than you might see at first glance.

A grower. Rain. Soil. Biodiversity. A journey. And a story worth knowing. 💚
