The beautiful old Bakke bridge!
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BRIDGE OF CHRISTMAS – BAKKE BRIDGE AT SIRA 🎅❤️❄️☃️✨❤️❄️💫
Did you know that Bakke bridge is Norway’s chain suspension bridge still in daily use – and at the same time the country’s oldest suspension bridge for road traffic? Built in 1844, that’s more than 180 years ago, and it’s still standing just as proud and strong! 💪🎩💫💫
The bridge stretches a 53,5 metres across the river Sira, between Lundevatnet and Sirdalsvannet, and consists of no fewer than 60 small and large arches – put together without a single nail. Just stone, muscle power and solid southern Norwegian grit, thanks to engineer and roadmaster Georg Daniel Barth Johnson who got his inspiration from England in 1838. 🇬🇧💡🤩💫
When the snow is falling heavily and the bridge is lit up in the December darkness, it becomes pure magic. The reflections in the water make it look as if Santa himself has hung up twice as many Christmas lights – and rumour has it he’s seriously considering moving here permanently before Christmas! 🎅🏻❤️🏡❄️☃️❤️💫
So take an evening stroll across the bridge with a warm cocoa in your cup, someone you love holding your hand (or the dog on a leash), and feel the real pre-Christmas spirit. This isn’t just a bridge – this is an experience for your memory backpack. ❤️
Happy pre-Christmas, dear people of Flekkefjord and all visitors – come take a photo under the bridge and feel free to tag 📸🎄💫❤️😍❄️☃️
Big thanks to who sent us this gorgeous photo yesterday afternoon! Could hardly wait to share it! 🎄👏🤩💫❄️
