A little update on the “getting those sensors working on 3rd party devices” project 😎I have never worked with CAN communication before so this was something new on many levels. Luckily I got a colleague that got the black belt in CAN 🤟🏻So he educated me and helped me out with the code. First I had to sniff the CAN traffic to get hold of the CAN IDs of the sensor data. I also got some snippets of code from the main developer at Brewtools that helped me to decode the data. Long story short.. It’s working baby! 🔥I am able to read the SG and temp from the density sensors but also the pressure from the pressure sensor. Next step is to be able to calibrate them by sending data to the sensors. And I am going to get this working on arduino/esp32/rpi as well. Happy camper!! 🍺

The new density sensor has arrived 🤟🏻 I got the FCS system as an addition to my own plc based fermentation controller. But I will actually dig in to this CAN sensor and get it included to a non-FCS system. With some good help from the awesome guys in Grimstad of course 😎 Stay tuned 💪🏻
