Run by a local Thamis, Gaurishankar Organic Farm & Home Stay is located in small yet beautiful Tarthali village of Bhimeshwor Municipality, Dolakha. Originally from Alampu Village of Bigu Municipality, Dolakha; Ganjabir Thami, wife Buddhimaya Thami along with their children moved in to Charikot after loosing their home in the devastating 2015 earthquake. Since then they have been running the farm
as their local business. They have four children who are currently enrolled in the local school nearby. As a part of their income, they earn by growing and selling seasonal vegetables and crops in the market. The sister farm of GOF is located in the neighbouring village Ukhubari which is about an hour and a half walk from Taarthali. Most of the school volunteers have been accommodated in the homestay of Ukhubaari. To any individuals willing to volunteer on any one of these farms, the farm owners happily welcome you to their premises with great hospitality and ambience. The farm work includes plowing fields, planting seasonal crops, harvesting crops, providing training to boost up production, feeding cattle, building greenhouse tunnel, collecting firewoods for evening camp, fetching water from natural spring tap, chasing monkeys, e.t.c. The farm is located in a very quiet, green and non-polluted environment in the foothills of the great Himalayas with perfect weather all year long. We will also get to see the majestic view of Mount Gaurishankar, Melungste and other snow-capped mountains from Taarthali farm. For the hike lovers, beautiful places like Sailung, Kalinchwok, Rolwaling valley is a must visit / hike around villages that are still hidden from the outside world. At last but not the least, while enjoying your stay in the farm, you will also get a chance to experience the local festivals of different ethnic groups and taste their unique delicacies. Without any doubt, you will be experiencing a local life of Nepalese people which will be permanently engraved in your heart.
