Our Story
Garden Apiary is a private company registered in the GoN/Department of Cottage Industry in 1987. After its registration with the Department of Cottage Industry, it actually acted as a supplier of Apis Cerena to government’s Godavari Bee Development Section. Garden Apiary, in fact, started its operation even before its registration with the DoCI. It actually started its operation in 1979 when it purchased two Newton B size boxes from Bee Development Section, Khopasi of the Department of Agriculture and started bee keeping work at household level by catching some honey bee from the surrounding areas of Bansbari, Kathmandu. It started bee keeping business in 1981 with 100 bee hives of cerena species. In 1982, it provided 7 days bee keeping training to 35 persons (25 women and 10 men) of Lalitpur district with the help of an NGO called “Improved Bees” and distributed 50 bee hives to the bee farmers. In 1983, it provided training on bee keeping to Naikap VDC of Kathmandu district. Thereafter, from 1984 to1986, it organized 2 practical trainings on bee keeping every year from its own residence in Bansbari, Kathmandu.
