It's that time of year again where some of our top wine judges have sniffed, swirled and sipped wines from all over the world to decide on the Top 50 Gold Medal winning drops in the New World Wine Awards.

I always look forward to these Awards, as they provide shoppers in all New World stores around the country with quality and affordable wines under $25, and the bonus is that they have been sampled several times by the judges to reach either Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal status.🥇🥈🥉

If you are out and about and planning on a grocery shop, pop into your local New World store to check out the Top 50 Gold Medal winners and perhaps try a new variety or brand to see if it could become your new "go-to" or favourite.

I'll be around the Central Otago stores starting this Friday, 10 October opening the following wines for sampling, which includes two Champions:-

Mount Riley Chardonnay (Champion)

SOHO Harry Rose (Champion)
Haha Pinot Noir
Squawking Magpie Merlot Cabernet

If anyone is keen to sample this fine example of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc then I’ll have it open for sampling, alongside some other Toi Toi varieties, at Three Parks New World in Wanaka this Friday afternoon, 17 March, and at Alexandra New World on Saturday afternoon. Cheers!😀

I’m often amazed by those who won’t try Riesling, which I sometimes describe as a “grown up” Pinot Gris for sophisticated palates that enjoy that beautiful balance and harmony between acid and sweetness. This is a stunning example!

🍽️ Our 'Last Light' Central Otago Riesling 2020 is a stunning match for Thai style dishes, seafood, salmon and cheeses.

We’re on the countdown to the Central Otago Wine Association’s Wine & Food event being held at Cargo Brewery (Waitiri Creek) in the Gibbston Valley this Saturday, 28 January.
It runs from 1 pm until 6 pm and will be showcasing 35 wineries from around the Central Otago region, plus delicious food will be on site to accompany the broad range of beverages.
It’s one of the biggest wine events in the Gibbston Valley and is limited to 3,000 tickets, so if you don’t want to miss out then hop to it. Check out the ROAM website for all details of this event and other happenings; you know you want to! Cheers!🍷
