Real and enduring - moving the wethers into the Upper Rakaia Valley is a 150 year station tradition, that always takes place in June. They will graze and grow wool until they are mustered back home for shearing in November. It is a tribute to the hardy merino breed that they thrive and survive in the mountains - a bit like many of the hardy people that live and work in this environment. Shout out to high country shepherds and musterers and their faithful dogs 👏🏻👏🏻
