From Winter Feed to Spring Growth: Are You Ready for What’s Next?

As we move into calving, many dairy farmers are entering the final stages of winter-feeding programmes. At CFA, we’ve been busy helping clients understand the quality of their winter feed through feed testing, ensuring cows receive the nutrition they need during one of the most important periods of the season.

Feed Testing: The Final Check Before Calving

Knowing the quality of your silage, baleage, fodder beet, or other winter feed can make a significant difference to cow condition and transition success. Feed and herbage testing removes the guesswork and allows farmers to:

✅Balance rations accurately
✅Identify energy and protein deficiencies
✅Protect cow condition leading into calving
✅Optimise supplement use
✅Reduce unnecessary feed costs

With calving almost here, now is the time to ensure your feeding programme is delivering what your herd needs.
