Ever noticed the tiny letters RM on a bottle of Ch*****ne?
They tell quite a story.
RM stands for Récoltant-Manipulant — a producer who makes Ch*****ne predominantly from grapes grown in their own vineyards.
These are the Grower Ch*****nes, made by producers who are often working with just a handful of vineyards, many in a single village.
It's quite different from the great Ch*****ne houses such as Veuve Clicquot, Moët & Chandon and Louis Roederer, who are masters at blending w**es from across the region to create their recognisable house styles.
And that's what makes Ch*****ne so interesting. One region, two rather different approaches, and an extraordinary range of w**es.
Is one better than the other? We don't think that's the point.
At Normanby, we don't have a house Ch*****ne. We prefer to think of ourselves as a house of Ch*****ne.
