Cliff Edge Wines

Cliff Edge Wines A small, family-run vineyard at Awhitu in Auckland // try our lovely Bordeaux red or crisp, coral pink rosé!

Cliff Edge Wines is a small vineyard located on a cliff top at the end of the Awhitu Peninsula with a panoramic, stunning view over the Manukau harbour. Here, the Seagar family grows Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes from mature vines planted in 1996. The unique mesoclimate and fine clay soil help to produce a zing, crisp, coral pink rosé, and a top-notch spicy Bordeaux-style red.

Love an unexpected reference. Our wine is not that dangerous though.

We had friends over on Saturday so made us all a tasty pan of risotto, with homegrown herbs, pumpkin and bacon as well as a good glug of this 2015 Rosé. We had a little glass too and although she turned a bit orangy over the years she was still surprisingly tasty. A great autumn risotto companion ✌🏻🍲🥓🎃🍂

After a life as a coffee sack in Papua New Guinea, this beauty now helps keeping sand and soil away from our grapes when they move from vine to crate.

So much fruit this year we decided to pick the cab franc the day prior to our harvest fest. Bud and Cane might not look very impressed in this pic, but the quality of the fruit is pretty amazing 🤩

We'll be harvesting next week! Traditionally we pick on a Sunday, but the weather is boss so it looks like it will be a Saturday event this year. We look forward having the crew back together again 👨‍🌾

Hanging in there.. Those last few weeks before harvest are crucial but there’s only so much you can do at this point 🤷🏼We are at the mercy of the weather really, and boy are we lucky with another sun drenched day het in Tamaki Makaurau. Wine whisperer Ben looks pretty pleased among big fat bunches of Cab Franc.
