🐄 Herd Testing | Better Data | Better Decisions

Herd testing this week at Glendhu Dairies with LIC, giving us valuable insights into individual cow performance and helping us make informed decisions around herd management, milk quality and production.

A proud moment for the Glendhu Dairies team. 🐄🩺

Congratulations to Iroshana and his family on an incredible achievement. It’s fantastic to see a valued former team member return to the farm in his new role as a vet at VetSouth. A great example of where hard work and dedication can lead.

A big thank you to Sam and the team at Halter for dropping off a ‘Calving Care Pack’ to the team at Glendhu Dairies today! 🐄

A thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated during one of the busiest times of our farming year. It’s great to have the support of the Halter team behind us through the season and calving period. 💚

🚛 First Fill for Our New Bulk Fert Shed 🚛

✅ Another great addition at Glendhu Dairies is now in action!

🚚 Switzers Valley Transport was on site helping us fill our new bulk fertiliser shed for the first time with Ammo nitrogen fertiliser from Ballance Agri-Nutrients

🏠 Built by Sheds and Barns the new shed gives us a practical, tidy and efficient way to store fertiliser on farm and have it ready when needed.

💚 A big thanks to everyone involved in getting it up and running.

🐄 Milk Powder Mixing Station | Making Calf Feeding More Efficient 🐄

🐮 At Glendhu Dairies, we’re always looking for practical ways to improve efficiency, save time and make everyday jobs easier for our team.

🥛 Our milk powder mixing station is a great example of this in action. The tank, manufactured by Advantage - Advantage Plastics and plumbed by DairyTech South can mix up to 4,000 litres of milk powder and water in just a matter of minutes, with the purpose-built building completed by G Kay Building -Jarrod Kay.

❄️ Once mixed, the milk is pumped directly into our calf milk vats or calf cafeterias, creating a faster and more streamlined feeding process.

🐮 Being able to prepare such a large volume at once is saving our team an hour or more of labour each day during the busy calf-rearing season.

🥛 And on those cold, wet Southland days, being able to mix the milk quickly under cover and pump it directly where it needs to go makes a big difference — reducing time spent out in the weather and making the job that much easier for our team.

❄️ It’s a practical investment that continues to deliver — less time mixing, less manual handling, greater efficiency and more time for our team to focus on what matters most: caring for our calves. 🐄

🐄 Calving 2026 at Glendhu Dairies 🐄

🌱 It’s been a busy few weeks here at Glendhu Dairies as we work our way through calving for 2026.

🐮 We’re incredibly fortunate to have a great team — Rich, Nicole, Deborah and Amelia — who have worked hard to keep everything running smoothly throughout this busy time.

🌱 From long days and early starts to making sure our newest arrivals are well-fed, healthy and well cared for, it’s been a fantastic team effort.

🧡 A big thank you to everyone for their hard work, commitment and attention to detail. We couldn’t do it without you!
