Many people are searching for new ways to shop for foods but the convenience of supermarkets is hard to beat in our modern, busy lives. The points in this thought-provoking article, with a Marlborough flavour, are.....
1. Shop at the many local food stores around, like Anita's Shop, Williams Green Grocers, BIN INN Blenheim, Renwick Meat Market and Bakery, Meaters of Marlborough Ltd, Westmeat.
2. On Sundays, shop at the Marlborough Farmers' Market.
3. Buy food boxes from local growers, like the vege boxes from Spudz N Greens .
4. You can buy meat direct from farmers and have it delivered to your door.
5. If you cannot source locally, then NZ options are still pretty local so try The Modern Forager.
6. We are not aware of an open food network in NZ, other than Wholefood Marlborough, are you?
7. We do know that food co-ops exist though, if you want to know more, let us know.
8. There are a few online options for specialty food delivery, like GoodFor and Real Food Direct - which do you use?
9. Perhaps you order food boxes like My Food Bag , we understand they focus on local food sources.
