Saint Clair Family Estate is owned by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, viticulture pioneers in Marlborough since 1978. Grapes were originally supplied to local wine companies; however, a desire to extend the quality achieved in the vineyard through to the finished wine led to the establishment of Saint Clair Family Estate in 1994.

As many of you know, we recently celebrated the 80th birthday of our matriarch, Judy Ibbotson.

Judy has been one of the drivers behind Saint Clair Family Estate since day one, planting our first vineyard accompanied by her three young children and a group of great friends back in 1978.

Eight cities. Nine days. A whole lot of Marlborough on tour šŸ‡

Our w**emaker Kyle Thompson recently returned from China and South Korea, where he joined our importers Aussino China to celebrate their 30 years in business, presenting our range across eight cities, hosting dinners, and talking w**e with some seriously knowledgeable drinkers.

"China's a fantastic place, enormous, exciting, vibrant and high tech, with some very educated w**e consumers," Kyle says. "It was a whirlwind tour, and really we only touched the surface of what's possible."

Then on to Seoul with our South Korean importer Shinsegae, where our w**es found a very happy match. "Seoul is such a busy city, with great food. Our w**e works incredibly well with Korean cuisine."

Cool climate whites are winning hearts across Asia. This trip meant Kyle was able to share both our w**es and our story with each market, and he came back with many insights of his own āœØ

Like our w**es starting in the vineyard, a good meal starts long before it hits the table. Behind the scenes in the vineyard kitchen, a lot of thought goes into seasonal local produce and the potential combinations guaranteed to make it sing, not to mention pair perfectly with one of our carefully crafted w**es.

Spring has arrived at the Vineyard Kitchen Block. šŸŒæ

Right next door to our Cellar Door, the vines are waking up, with tiny buds pushing through after months of winter dormancy, marking the start of another growing season in Marlborough.

Bud burst is one of our favourite times of year. It's the first sign that the cycle is beginning again, and a reminder of just how much goes into every bottle before it reaches your glass.

Ngā mihi o te wiki o te reo Māori! This Māori Language Week (14-19 September) we're getting behind the theme of the week, Te Reo Towns. Te Reo Towns is about weaving te reo Māori into our everyday life through our kura (schools), sports clubs, businesses, marae, whānau and communities. It's about participation and sharing a love for te reo Māori. Every consistent action, whether big or small, creates lasting change.

As a team, we've had a lot to celebrate over the last wee while, along with a few sad goodbyes.

Last week our Saint Clair Family Estate family headed to W**e + Food Marlborough to mark many milestones, including saying goodbye to two valued Vineyard Kitchen staff members, a ten year 'workversary', two 50ths, and a very special birthday for the woman who helped start it all - Judy Ibbotson, who was celebrating her 80th birthday šŸ‘‘

We are so lucky to have a wonderful team to celebrate such milestones with - cheers šŸ„‚
