We have 220 trees in Canterbury, we have 3 varieties, but our 2 main ones are Rex (round shape) and Meyric (oval in shape and easier to crack open - can even use your fingers). Most of NZ's walnuts are imported (usually cracked and packaged), but there is a group of Walnut growers set up in NZ so support local. Walnuts are harvested mainly in the month of April each year, this year we harvested ju

st over 4000 kg. Walnuts (in shell) can stay good for 2-3 years, we would like to think you'd eat them before then though and buy some more!
