Os's Kitchen

Os's Kitchen Os, makes delicious home cooked Indian & Pakistani food. Find us at markets around Christchurch My name is Os. Enjoy!!

I grew up in London with a Pakistani Father and Danish mother. My Father was an exceptonal cook and my best friend was also Pakistani. His mother was an amazing cook so I grew up on a staple of predominatly Pakistani and Indian food and developed a passion for the cuisine then started learning the recipes and had a dabble myself. Most of my cooking was learnt cooking with my family learning from

friends mothers and occasionally professional chefs would come through either my friends or our households where I would try and pick up what I could. My path took me into professional sports and later corporate finance but my passion for cooking and sharing my food wth loved ones has only grown. In the UK, the Indian and Pakistani food scene changed and restaurants which had been previously catering for the western palate were gradually replaced by home style restaurants as people sought out more authentic tasting food. Upon movng to New Zealand with my beloved Kiwi wife and children I felt the Indan and Pakistani food here was similar to what we had in London in years gone by and not a true reflection of the delicious Pakistani and Indian cuisine I grew up on. Often cooking for friends and family the idea had been floated by several of them that I should set a kitchen servicing predominately the local community offering food
that people might not otherwise have the opportunity to taste. I love the idea of adding value to my community whilst making a living doing something I love. For me food and cooking is a creative process and an expression of love and sharing that through my food is something very exciting for me. Some of you have tasted my food but the proof as they say is in the pudding or this case the curry! I hope my food is enjoyed and can spread to a wider audience through word of mouth. I'm brimming full of ideas and dishes, but for now am presenting a menu of some of my favouite dishes, many of which have taken years to cultivate.
